Youth is not a time ; it is a state of mind ; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees ; it is a matter the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emothions....

 

Youth means a temperamental predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over the love of ease.

This often exists in a man of sixty more than a boy of twenty.

Nobody grows old merely by a number of years.

We grow old by deserting our ideals....

In the center of your heart and my heart there is a wireless stathion ; so long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer, courage and power from men and the infinite, so long are you young....

젊음은 인생의 한 시기가 아니요, 마음의 상태이다.

장밋빛 볼과 붉은 입술, 유연한 무릎이 아니라

의지와 풍부한 상상력과 활기찬 감정에 달려 있다.

젊음이란 기질이 소심하기보다는 용기에 넘치고,

수월함을 좋아하기보다는 모험을 좇는 것이고

이는 스무 살 청년에게도, 예순 노인에게도 있다.

단지 나이를 먹는다고 늙는 것은 아니다.

이상을 버릴 때 우리는 늙는다.

그대와 나의 가슴 한가운데에는 무선국이 있다.

그것이 사람들로부터 또는 하늘로부터 아름다움과 희망과 활기, 용기의 힘의 메세지를 수신하는 한, 그대는 영원히 젊으리라.
